OUR GOAL:
The River of Life Care Home is a Christian care home whose purpose is to
care for women and their children who are going through a crisis situation,
but who do not have adequete family support systems or resources to help
them through the crisis they are facing in their lives and also to help them
rebuild their lives and to reintegrate back into society as responsible persons
and parents.
The River of Life Care Home’s purpose is two fold. The initial phase is to
help women and their children, who don’t have adequate family support systems
or resources and to help them through the crisis situation in their lives
by clearly identifying their problems and working out immediate solutions
with them. This is a short-term phase.
The second phase is a longer-term phase and its focus is on helping the women
to rebuild their lives and to reintegrate into society as responsible persons
and parents. This stage involves longer term solutions including counseling,
job training, learning parenting skills, etc.
It is to be understood that the Care Home is a temparary help during her
time of crisis and for a time ( determined on an individual basis through
evaluations by our staff care team) as the woman transitions into making
more permanent decisions and solutions concerning her future.
It is our expectation that the foundation or church group that refers a woman
to us will continue to be involved in her care, in counceling and partnering
with us to help her to make decisions for her future.
The women are under no obligation to accept the help or the information that
we share, and they are solely responsible for all of the choices that they
make for themselves and for their children. We may offer advise but we do
not make any decisions for the women in our care (except for those possible
situations where she would be uncooperative and she or her children are in
danger and we have to interviene)
We determine each case impartially and do not discriminate on the basis of
nationality or religious beliefs.
Our purpose is to:
1. Create a healthy, loving, safe, and supportive Christian
family living environment
2. Support the woman through their initial crisis, and
to help them to confront and heal from painful difficult problems in their
lives, and to help them plan for their future.
3. Provide a safe place to model and build relationships
based on trust and love
4. Help them with their physical, material, medical and
dental, social, and emotional and spiriatul needs.
5. Help them to identify abuse and learn more positive
methods of disciplining their children.
6. We help the women to become responsible and good workers.
7. Encourage women to reconsile with their families if
it is possible.
8. Our staff care team continually evaluates each case
to make sure that we are fullfilling the goals of the care home.
